OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS GRIEVANCES REDRESSAL CELL

Introduction

FTO Overseas Pakistanis Grievances redressal Cell is established by FTO to protect the interest of Overseas Pakistanis against Maladministration of Federal Revenue Division or any Federal Tax Employee.

Office of the Federal Tax Ombudsman was established in 2000 by virtue of Establishment of the Office of Federal Tax Ombudsman Ordinance, 2000 to eradicate Maladministration exercised in Federal Revenue Division or by any Federal Tax Employee.

Vision

To ensure redressal of Grievances/Complaints of Overseas Pakistanis regarding Maladministration of Federal Revenue Division or any Federal Tax Employee in matters pertaining to Taxation so that the OPs build a trust in local Tax authorities ultimately contributing wilfully to the economic growth and strengthening Pakistan by sending their valuable revenue back together with paying taxes in Pakistan.

Maladministration

Maladministration on part of Federal Revenue Division or any Federal Tax Employee is defined in Section 2(3) of FTO Ordinance, 2000 which precisely include; 1. Illegal Actions 2. Negligence 3. Unnecessary communications 4. Errors in Refund 5. Non-Payment of Refund 56. Unlawful coercive recovery of tax 7. Federal Tax Employees avoiding legal proceedings.

Timeline

FTO ensures redressal of grievances/complaints in minimum possible timeline through Informal Dispute Resolution provided in Section 33 of FTO Ordinance, 2000. However, the formal complaint disposal time, stipulated under the Ordinance, is maximum of Sixty days.

Forum of Complaint/Grievance

OPs can file their grievances/complaints directly through E-mail, FTO Mobile App, WhatsApp Message, FTO Online Complaint Portal, Postal mail or Personal Visit to the Offices of FTO in Islamabad or any Regional Office.

Procedure

OPs are advised to submit their grievances/complaints with complete details and documentary proof, preferably on the Prescribed Form. Complaint number will be issued to the complainant in this lieu.
